OWWLS OUTREACH
I like the outreach because im helping all of these women to change there lives or at least be safe on the streets. I dislike the time we picked to do outreach because their wasnt anyone to do outreach to. I expected to find young women to help and let them know theres people here to help them and got disappointed. -Maira 20
owwls
owwls for me was a great experience.. OwWLS stands for Outreach to Women Working and Living in the Streets.. what ii liked about it was that we got to get out of the office and actually got to do outreach hands on .. we spoke to the youth and those who seem to appear workin in the street about our program. We also gave out resources, condoms, and hygein to those in the streets. me and my sisters and cywd also had declerations of our own that we shared with the public.. the down fall about it was that we were out there too early being that our target was to those women workin and livin in the street not many were out at that time of day so it made it a little difficult to outreach to them.. over all the experience was great!!!! never done anything like it and i look foward into doing it again.. -------> e'shh
Owwls Out Reach.
I liked getting out of the office I liked having a big crowd interested in what we were offering I felt like were very organized
experience @ the owls OutreaCh
- I Liked how the street teaminG came along, every one of the girls from the center did a great job.
- An what i disliked the most about this outreach is there wasnt as much niGht workers in the day so we did not pass out as many kits.
- Nexttime we need to go at night so we can actually see some night workers.

OWWLS (OUTREACH TO WOMEN WORKING AND LIVING IN THE STREETS
My experience outreaching to the community were sex work is really going on was a great thing for me it makes me feel as if im being apart of the work that greatly needs to be done. Walking the steets trying to outreach to young women is a beautiful thing and me being young myself and think that they'd be better able to connect with me . I love to be apart of helping the community and hopefully on our next outreach day were able to see some young women that need our resourses and connections . KJB
OWLS Outreach
OWLS is a organization that helps prositutes practice safe sex and try and get them off the streets. We did outreach targeting protitutes in the mission area. My experience during outreach was good because I got to spend a little time with my sisters. I enjoyed being outside also. There wasn't much prostitutes on the streets but I did have the opportunity to hand out condoms and other information about CYWD. Improvments will be more organization and a area where theres more action as far as seeing more pimps, prositutes, tricks, etc. -Damena,16
Owwls(Outreach to Women Working and Living in the Streets)
Owwls is a new outreach group that our director @ the Center for Young Womens Development came up with. The purpose of the outreach program OWWLS is for the girls in the sister's rising program to go out to high risk area's in san francisco and hand out hygiene bag's to street worker's from the age of 13-24.We also outreach to them and let them know about our program and the services we offer to them. Our first outreach group for the owwls program started two thursdays ago and we started in the mission district we didnt really see that many street workers probably due to the day light.Every thursday where going to be going out to different area's in the city and hopefully we accomplish what were going out there for........................ sade'.......sisters rising intern

Owwls... Out Reach for Women Working & Living on the Streets. While working on this program, I was happy to see neded materials going to ones who may need it ( Soaps, Lotions, Dentail Dams, Condoms, Lube, Toothbrush/Toothpaste, Nail-filers with Clinic information on it, Candy & information on the Center Shall they ever need it.) Our goal is to target Women but is not limited to helping men if they may also need a few resources. We DO NOT harrass these women, we serve them !

Finding A Summer Job
My last summer job was A "Youth Administraive Assistant" for the Bayview Opera House summer program. I did general Office work and i also help assist my supervisor with the youth and there art and performances.
I go about finding jobs through job search on foot and on the internet. I apply at employment programs and get help from employment specialist. I also get resourses from my case manager and also from staff memebers at larkin street youth services

My last summer job was working at Girlsource. I found it from researching youth jobs in San Francisco on Google. I worked there the summer of 2010. The one thing i liked about the job was that the staff was friendly, helpful, and supportive!
I look for jobs by walking the mall and being out in general. Also by using the CYWD job board and hearing from friends and family.

finding a summer job
I walked in to T.J maxx clothing store and applied on the spot, turned in my application the same day and the next week i was called for a interview. I think its easy to look for a job all you have to do is just walk in and ask is the company hiring keep yourself motivated, but i think the reason they dont give young people a chance these days because of sterotype, compatition with older peole because the economy is bad also bad backgrounds. i have applied for several jobs in the pass and did not get no response back thats why its good to check in with company that you have applied for =]

Summer Job Hunting
My plans for finding a summer consist of walking! LOTS AND LOTS of walking.. I'll most likely begin my search online, but afterwards it's off to some good old fashion foot work.
The Know Justice conference was so much fun. holding a workshop talking to kids was very inspiring. i like the entertainment that we haD IT made people come outthey shell & start dancing.even though, it waas very chaotic it was a very smoth conference. the kids that attended were all all from different areas of the bayarea & it was nice seeing all kids from evrywhere gettin along with eachother. overall the conference was a success & i give all my sistas props for putting together a very strong conference!!

I FEEL OVERALL THE KNOW JUSTICE CONFRENCE WAS A BEAUTIFUL THING FOR ALL SUCH A DEVERSE GROUP OF YOUNG FOLKS TO COME TOGETHER TO LEARN THIER RIGHS IN KEEP THE SPACE POSITIVE AT THE SAME TIME . MOSTLY EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTH , WE TURNED OUT AT LEAST 250 YOUTH FROM ALL OVER THE BAY , I BELIEVE EVERYONE TOOK SOMETHING FROM COMING DOWN THE ONLY PROMBLEM WAS WE SHOULD HAVE IT AT A SPACE A LITTLE MORE FRIENDLY TO TEENS WE CAN BE A BIIT NOISY (FOR A LIBRARY ) AND SOME YOUTH LEFT THEIR TRASH BEHIND OTTHERWISE IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL THING ......

Know Justice Conference
I enjoyed the conference a lot.. It was VERY informing & helpful... I Liked that there was LOTS of youth, community based organizations & SF citizens.. I LOVED how the youth were involved in the workshops & were seeking information.. I didn't like that the workshops short & that there was only a limit of two per person.. I think we should have got information from four.. I also didn't like how messy it was afterwards.. I would have liked other people to voulenteer, help or clean up after themselves... Otherwise.. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!
