For Colored Girls,
I really enjoyed this movie. There were different types of woman with different life styles but they were all black & they all were going through some type of problems. I liked how in the end they all came together, helped eachother out & supported them no matter what. I related to the woman who would use men for sex because sometimes I personally can careless about a mans company & just his sex.
Hello BLOG viewers Monday Nov.8 my co-workers and I watched a TYLER PERRY movie called "FOR COLORED GIRLS". It was a really good movie it touched me and made me damn near jump out my seat when i saw the guy throw his kids out the window. I can relate to most of the women in that movie like Nyla who was young and confused at one point sleeping with differnt guys an getting pregnant at a young age going through abortions but eventually overcoming her obstacle's and succeeding in life.

The Color Girls
I think the movie was koo it was kind of sad. But i could relate to the movie a little bit because my friend was raped and abused.
For Color Girls
The movie was very good because it was a reality check for the struggles women go through everyday and in their life. I think Tangy and Nayla is relatable to me because I have a close cousin who acts just like Tangy which is she "does" everyone and tries to cope with the emptiness she feels. She continues to go through these struggles everyday but doesn't let it show on her face. The Tangy and Nayla realtionship is also relating to me and my older sister because I feel like my sister doesn't like me because of jealousy issues and stuff I've done in the past. I wish we were as close as we use to be but life goes on and the stuff that happens in my life is better that way. I think the overall message of the movie was to show young women that everyone goes through some type of problem that makes them the person who they are going to be in the future. In the end everyone is connected in a way because history always repeats itself. It's up to you to decide if you want to change that cycle.

FOR COLORED GIRLS
I THINK THE MOVIE FOR COLORED GIRLS WAS A REALLY REALLY GOOD INSPIRATIONAL MOVIE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN NO MOVIE LIKE THAT.I PERSONALLY CANT REALLY RELATE TO ANY OF THOSE GIRLS BUT I KNOW CLOSE LOVE ONES THAT CAN. I THINK IT SENDS A GOOD POSITIVE MESSAGE TO ALL OR ANY AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALES WHO HAVE SEEN OR BEEN THROUGH ANYTHING LIKE THAT. ITS A REAL GOOD EYE OPENER.
My response for the movie "for color girls"
when we went to see "for color girls" i really enjoyed the movie although it was very sad. the sadess part of the movie was when one of the women kids where murderd by her babydaddy. But what i thought the main purpose of the movie was that each of the women had there own personal problems in there life that effected some of there close friends around them. at the end i was glade to see them come together and tell how they felt got a lot of things and struggles off there chest. i dont feel that this movie related to me in any way and hope it never does. -Maylia Milligan
FOR COLORED WOMAEN
I personally thought the movie was real good. I went home talking about it! I thought i wasnt going to like it at all at first but over all it was GREAT!! I related to a litlle of all the character's but MOSTLY to Naila and Wanitta. Being that i was expected of soo much from everbody me being the youngest of the pack, everyone thought that i wouldnt make the same mistakes they already made. To THEM i shoulda done "BETTER" but i walked the same path because that was i i knew at that time no one showed me different they just talked about it and wasn't about it themselves... I had an abortion at such a young age just like Naila. I related to Wanitta because i also carried a WEAK SPOT for my "LOVED" one and i let them...DO THEM.. I just acted as if i didnt know .. Beacuse i didnt want to know. I almost made the same mistake like Wanitta... I ALMOST LET "THEM" WALK AWAY WITH ---> ME!!!!

Willow Smith Video
I think the point of this video is that it doesn't matter what type of hair you have just do you. I don't think there should be any changes made to the video. I think it's a positive video for young African American girls because the video is basically sending the message that no matter what type of hair you have just "whip your hair back and forth." I think it took Sesame Street to come out with a positive video because most songs are talking about sex, drugs, money and things that society wants you to like based on the images they have for young women now a days. Some positive television shows are "My Wife And Kids", "Little Bill", and "That's So Raven". I don't think this video would have recieved the same response if it showed a different race because if it was a lighter version they would have said something like "She's trying to be black", but can they tell me how do you act black?? I think the remix version of Willow Smith's song made by Sesame Street made it better and well known because it pointed out that Willow Smith's song is just talking about whipping her hair back and forth. Overall any type of hair and basically saying you shouldn't be ashamed of "what your moma gave you."

WILLOW SMITH & SEASAME STREET WHIP MY HAIR VS. ILOVE MY HAIR
i think the point of the video was to show the young ladies of african american descent or that have nappy or course hair that they should love their hair .no i just think that willows video was kinda spicy for her age .i feel like it has taken seasame street so long to come out with something like this because raciscm in america is not dead . If you think are there any positive black shows for kids ?>no they cancelled them all .i believe that seasame street pointed out the fact that its fine to have any type of hair no matter how you were it whip it... do you

I would ban the Kanye West albumn cover because the picture is to inapproriate. I believe for music artists their welcome to do make anytype of music they want to make but for albumn covers they should be more respectful for others eyes. I believe that freedom of speech is your choice to say want you feel. Its worth banning by the picture put on the cover with the devil & angel having sexual relations, which I honestly think is disrespectful!!!. No and Yes because I dont care too much about Kanye West but some of his music is good. Yes, because Kanye West worships the devil. No, I wouldnt support it because its disrespectful, inappropriate and I dont care to listen to his music that much.

Kanye West Album "My Darkest Fantasy"
I saw Kanye West's album cover last week and word is that it might get banned. I agreed that it should until i was asked what are my beliefs about Freedom of Speech. Then i thought about it.. I think that the image on the front cover is worth banning because it's disrespectful to some religons and could be offensive to many. I know it's one's freedom of speech BUT there are other ways to express it. The image sends the wrong message to our young ones and i feel that sometimes it's BEST to keep Freedom Speech to yourself if it's none positive coming from it. I mean from the system to the people, our communities the world itself has grown so angery last thing we need is to have our kids grow hate in there mind, body , and soul's.MOst important in there HEART. Im not sayin that Kanye West is a bad person but we do have our young one's lookin up to these celeberties and i wouldnt want to walk in the Virgin Store and have my nieces and nephew see or even ask me what the image means. I support Kanye and what he does BUT i DONT support the cover on his new album and i dont respect it but who am i to silence his voice on his own Freedom of speech.. Personally i dont mind if it gets banned or not because it wont cyhange much for me. - e'sha
KANYE WEST ALBUM COVER
I would ban the Kanye West album cover because the album cover is a bit too explicit. my thoughts about freedom is that everybody should have the right to say what they want.the fact that it should be banned because this album cover has a devil & angel were all on each other.. It doesnt matter who album cover it is, its still wrong i would buy the album just cause the artist makes good music.the title goes with the album cover because kanye west worships the devil & is a negative person. no , i would support the album its just wrong to have that type of picture.

Willow Smith "Whip My Hair"
This is a youtube video of 9 year old Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair" footage that was combined with a sesame street skit entitled "I Love My Hair". I think the point of this video was to show young african american girls to appreciate and love their hair.I dont know why it took sesame street so long to come out with an educational video that focused on young minorities, since sesame street has been on air for many decades.I think its a good video for kids to watch for they could learn to understand the beauty of their hair.

Willow Smith vs. SESAME STREET
I think the point of the video is for kids to show that its okay to have any type of hair and be proud of it. I do believe that this is a positive and good inspriation for african american young girls who are self conscious about the course of their hair. It took so long for a video like this to appear on Sesame Street because the world is becoming different and they're just noticing good positivity in african american girls. If this was show cased in a diffrent race it wouldn't get as much attention if the girl was white.I think Willow Smith made it better if she did not remix it and combine it with sesame street nobody wouldn't have got what Willow was saying.. p.g.,18
kanye west album cover
so the u.s is trying to baned kanye west new album cover i personally dont argree because i feel its his way of expressing his thoughts. my belief is people should be able to express how there feeling and they should be able to do that how they want, this ablun cover isnt hurtin anyone!i mean i understand why someone would want this cover baned its a naked angle with a devil thats kind of inappropiate.when i found out that the album cover belonged to kanye it diddent really matter i felt the same about it.

Kanye West Album Cover
So basically there was this issuse dealing with Kanye West's new album cover, and whether or not the U.S.A should ban it or not. Me personally, I wouldn't ban it because it's his way of expressing his self. My belief about freedom of speech is that I think everybody has the right to it. Nobody should be discriminated against just becuase not everybody agrees with it, that's not fair. No one's speech should be banned that I can think of, everybody should have tha right to speak their own mind and thoughts. What I think makes this image worth banning though is the inappropiate-ness. Even thought it's freedom of speech, there's a certain tolerance of appropiate that you have to consider. When I found out that it was Kanye West's album cover, it didnt change my perpective on him as an artist becuase I love Kayne's work, and best believe that I will be buying his album when it comes out on November 22nd. I can't be the judge to whether or not the title goes with the picture, it's his album and he names it whatever he pleases. Even though it's Kanye West's album cover, if I'd seen it without knowing who's album it was I probaly wouldn't support it.

Immigrant Rights March
When I was at the March I seen people coming together as a united group. Allot of things happened such as a big fight between the public and the police. A man was tazzed due to his ignorance. Even though that one negative thing happened most people kept going on with the march. For the first time I seen everyone united as one. It didn’t matter what the color of anyone’s skin was, all that mattered is that we were all there to support the same cause.
-Cornel Buckner
While I was at the march I experienced a lot of peace and people coming together. I liked being a part of a good cause. I took the march very seriously and it mattered to me that the government is doing to minority people. I do not approve of the laws that the government is setting because it may not directly affect all ethnicities but it does affect us all as a community, and I feel they are stripping us of our rights.

"Health care Reform" SRs thoughts on abortions
April 8, 2010 Sister's Rising blogged about the health care reform. We were informed that medical would no long support abortions and that if you were under the age of 18 then would have to have parent consent. There were many different debates that arose while we discussed this topic.
> I think what is going to happen is that a lot of teens will be putting their kids up for adoption. I say this because most parents won’t have the money to get an abortion so most likely they won’t have the money to raise their kids.
-Candy Smith 24
>I think it’s a good deed for these young ladies so they can have a reality check and know abortions are a serious thing and you should protect yourself. I also feel that parents should have the right to know when their child is having an abortion. Although this situation does has its down falls; abortions are expensive and there is going to be a whole lot more teenage pregnancies. This would only lead to more young women dropping out of school.
-Mercedes Johnson 19
> The abortion law is f***ed up for real. I think its messed up because it’s not right to take our privacy away.
-Ana DeLeon 17
> More women and youth are going to have children. More kids are going to drop out of school, or give their kids up for adoption. Hopefully that will teach them not to have sex and to think twice before they decided to have sex without protection. Parents need to sit down and have a serious talk with their children about protecting themselves, teach them the do's and don’ts on sex. They should also educate their children on STDs/STIs, HIV and aids.
-Cornel Buckner 17
> I don’t like the new abortion law; I feel we need that option for our youth. The girls getting pregnant today gets younger and younger. This law is unfair.
-Ashley Zevallous
> I think that the abortion law is crazy! because sometimes things happen and all youth are not ready for that commitment to a child. I think we should have help with the choice that we decided to make.
