"Health care Reform" SRs thoughts on abortions

April 8, 2010 Sister's Rising blogged about the health care reform. We were informed that medical would no long support abortions and that if you were under the age of 18 then would have to have parent consent. There were many different debates that arose while we discussed this topic.

> I think what is going to happen is that a lot of teens will be putting their kids up for adoption. I say this because most parents won’t have the money to get an abortion so most likely they won’t have the money to raise their kids.

>I think it’s a good deed for these young ladies so they can have a reality check and know abortions are a serious thing and you should protect yourself. I also feel that parents should have the right to know when their child is having an abortion. Although this situation does has its down falls; abortions are expensive and there is going to be a whole lot more teenage pregnancies. This would only lead to more young women dropping out of school.

> The abortion law is f***ed up for real. I think its messed up because it’s not right to take our privacy away.

> More women and youth are going to have children. More kids are going to drop out of school, or give their kids up for adoption. Hopefully that will teach them not to have sex and to think twice before they decided to have sex without protection. Parents need to sit down and have a serious talk with their children about protecting themselves, teach them the do's and don’ts on sex. They should also educate their children on STDs/STIs, HIV and aids.

> I don’t like the new abortion law; I feel we need that option for our youth. The girls getting pregnant today gets younger and younger. This law is unfair.

-Ashley Zevallous

> I think that the abortion law is crazy! because sometimes things happen and all youth are not ready for that commitment to a child. I think we should have help with the choice that we decided to make.
